Sports and recreational fishing are regulated by the Law on Marine Fisheries and the Rules on Sports and Recreational Fishing at the Sea.
The provisions of other regulations governing fishing tools and equipment, fishing and the protection of fish and other aquatic organisms are also appropriately applied to these forms of fishing.
For performing recreational and sport fishing in the fishing sea of the Republic of Croatia, a permit is required, regardless of whether it is done from the coast or from a boat. Exceptionally, without a permit, recreational fishing can be performed by persons under 14 years of crash with one invocation with or without the use of a rod. In sport fishing, the use of an underwater gun (persons older than 16 years) is allowed, without the use of diving equipment.
Fishing with an underwater rifle is allowed exclusively in sport fishing, and it is permitted for one fisherman to use up to two pieces of an underwater rifle.
One-day and multi-day fishing licenses at sea are available to persons who are members of a national federation of sport fishing, and annual sports licenses are exclusively for members of the Croatian Association for Sport Fisheries at Sea.
